CSCB CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) Program Renewal

PrintPrint

By renewing as a CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) on an annual basis, you will be demonstrating your ongoing commitment to professional development and the high quality of service expected from those with the CCS designation. Timely, complete information is critical to the CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) and the CSCB will provide you with the means by which you can receive information on new Customs policies, administrative programs, and fast changing international trade agreements, giving you the knowledge you need to stay current.

The CCS designation program has annual reporting and payment requirements.

Renewal Fee

In January of each year, CCS designates who attained the required number of points for the previous year will be sent an email advising them of how to pay their fees. Currently, the renewal fee is $105 (plus applicable taxes) per year. Payment can be made online.

List of Approved Events

Please do not assume that an event approved for points in one year will be approved, or that the same number of points will be assigned, in the following year.

Event Eligibility

  • To be deemed as eligible for CCS points, an event must be approved by the CSCB. The event must be at least three (3) hours in length. To do this in advance of the event, complete the form: Request for Recognition of Eligibility for CCS Professional Development Points and forward it to the CSCB with the required documentation and administration fee of $20 (plus taxes applicable in your province). We will then advise you if attendance at the event is eligible for CCS points.

Submitting Points

Here's what you can do to ensure that the CSCB has a record of your points:

For approved CSCB events, courses, on-line quizzes, or in-house training:

  • For CSCB events, a record of attendance will be filed with the CSCB National Office by the event organizer. Your attendance will be recorded in our database. You are not obligated to provide proof of attendance, however, it would be prudent to keep proof of your registration and attendance on file.
  • You don't need to file anything further if you have taken CSCB courses or completed the CSCB on-line quizzes. Points are added automatically.
  • For training offered in-house by CSCB members, please have the training facilitator provide us with a list of CCS designates who completed the in-house training.

For IECanada, CBSA, and other events approved by the CSCB as eligible for CCS points:

  • You must confirm your attendance at the event. Complete the form: CCS Professional Development Points Record Sheet Have the form signed by the event organizer and forward it to the CSCB. We will then record your attendance in our database.

For other events:

For CCS designates who sit on national or regional boards or committees:

  • Proof need not be forwarded to the CSCB.

For University or College courses:

  • To be deemed as eligible for CCS points, university or college courses must be approved by the CSCB. This can be done in advance of taking the course. In order for the CSCB to determine eligibility, forward any information about the course that is contained in the course calendar, or in a course outline. We will advise you if the course is eligible for CCS points. Once you have completed the course, forward a proof of successful completion with the required fee of $20.00 (plus taxes applicable in your province) to the CSCB. We will then record this information in our database.

Points Summaries

On a periodic basis, you should access your CCS account and check your points status. If you think your record is incomplete, please provide us with proof of your approved professional development activities by December 31st of each year. You must acquire 20 points by the end of the year (December 31) to maintain the CCS designation.

  • If you do not submit an event attendance form for events hosted by any organization other than the CSCB, CCS points will not be awarded to you.
