Benefits
Why should you consider corporate membership in the Canadian
Society of Customs Brokers?
- Advocacy
Because our members value the work we do in identifying issues for which there
is industry consensus, and communicating positions on those issues to government.
Because you deserve a voice in Ottawa, a voice that will represent your interests
to federal government departments and agencies, including the Canada Border
Services Agency, the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade,
and the Canadian
Food Inspection Agency.
- Timely Information Resources
Because as a customs broker you need accurate, up-to-date information in order
to meet your clients' needs. The CSCB specializes in the timely provision of
technical and operational information brokers require. We e-mail this material
to hundreds of member contacts throughout the business day. We also have an on-line
searchable database that provides a valuable research tool for Customs-related
policies and news, as well as international trade, general management and public
affairs information.
- Industry Innovation
Because the benefits of electronic commerce processes are
making a positive and significant difference to your business.
Because CSCB members benefit from the CSCB commitment to electronic
commerce processes that have improved customs brokers' competitiveness
and ability to meet client needs.
- Professional Development Events
Because you need to know about the professional development opportunities we
provide for you and your employees, including national and regional conferences,
seminars, and meetings, all at reduced costs for members.

In conjunction with Moore-McLean Corporate Insurance Limited, the Society offers its members the opportunity to be part of the Release Prior to Payment Master Bond, as well as Licence Bonds. Other bonding products and services are also available from Moore-McLean.
- General Agency Agreements and Standard Trading Conditions
The General Agency Agreement contains the minimum information recommended by the Society that members should include in their agency agreements with clients. This form also includes the standard trading conditions. These conditions have been approved by the Society, and outline members' ethical and professional responsibilities to their clients, and vice versa.
The General Agency Agreement (GAA) and Standard Trading Conditions (STC) documents are available to CSCB corporate members.
- Orders in Council subscription service
Copies of Orders in Council that are relevant to the customs brokerage community are mailed to subscribers as soon as they are received in the national office (often on a weekly basis, while Parliament is sitting).
- Technical/Operational Inquiries
Because CSCB staff are available to assist you in finding
the answers to technical questions that arise during the course
of your business operations.
